First Church in Boston (fourth) is dedicated.
July 21, 1808
Architect: Asher Benjamin. The church is located on Chauncy Street (then Chauncy Place). The building includes extensive skylights, which prompt a wag at the time to suggest that Rev. Nathaniel Frothingham is “Trying to raise Christians under glass.” The congregation moves to the current building (fifth) and the original building is demolished in 1868.*
